The Undeniable Power of Portraiture

By Tris Anderson

"It is one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like, it’s another thing to make a portrait of who they are.” - Paul Caponigro

Portraits are my bread and butter. But why do I love portraits so much, you ask?

Well, the beauty of photographing someone in a setting that is simplistic yet thoughtful is that I get to focus on the individual and their special essence. This opportunity gives me the chance to show someone their true beauty from the inside out.

I love being able to see something in someone else and then bring that observation to life — and most importantly, show them that perspective.

One of the most interesting and fun parts of being a photographer is that I am able to see beyond what the person sees and dislikes or dismisses about themselves.

Very often, what lies within the person being photographed is special and more fabulous than they know or dare to believe.

Portraits are the most intimate photographs. The image will survive the subject.”

- Victor Skrebneski

Many of my clients have a lot on their plate and juggle a number of responsibilities. So, it is always a wonderful opportunity to see a person that tends to give, give, give and work, work, work finally have a moment to indulge and see themselves.

So often we forget to check in with our own needs and desires and think about how we really see ourselves or how we want to be seen. When you are photographed by me, that is your moment to step forward and shine through. My job is to capture your light for all to see.
